Greening San Juan de Miraflores with treated water

Together with Esmeralda Corp, the German development cooperation implemented by GIZ and the Municipality of San Juan de Miraflores, we developed the Water Stewardship shared value project to irrigate the district’s green areas with treated wastewater produced by Esmeralda Corp’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), which complies with current quality standards for reuse.

The project was developed in response to the context of San Juan de Miraflores, a district located south of Metropolitan Lima, with a green area of only 2 m² per person, significantly less than the 9 m² per inhabitant recommended by the World Health Organization to ensure a good quality of life in cities.

Year: March 2016 - December 2017

Location: District of San Juan de Miraflores, Lima (Lurin Watershed)
