Reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation of green areas

Together with Backus, the German development cooperation implemented by GIZ and the Municipality of Ate, we developed aWater Stewardship project to irrigate the district’s green areas with treated wastewater produced by the Backus treatment plant, which complies with current quality standards for reuse.

This is in keeping with the situation in the district of Ate, which has a green area of almost 3 m² per person, significantly less than the 9 m² per inhabitant recommended by the World Health Organization to ensure a good quality of life in cities.
