The initiative has mobilized more than US$57 million in business projects linked to sustainable water management.
Aquafondo, the Water Fund for Lima and Callao, announced the launch of the new edition of the Water Responsible Company Seal (EHR Seal) 2026, an initiative that recognizes companies that lead concrete actions for sustainable water management and is supported by Global Water Partnership South America (GWP).
The EHR Seal encourages the private sector to incorporate water management into its strategic decisions, promoting projects that contribute to water efficiency, ecosystem restoration and the promotion of water culture in the territories where they operate.
Since its creation, the EHR Seal has mobilized more than US$57 million in private investment, recognizing 31 business initiatives that demonstrate the key role of the private sector in addressing the challenges of water security.
Among the projects highlighted are initiatives by companies such as Backus, with projects for the rehabilitation of amunas for water recharge in high Andean basins; Fenix, with a desalination plant that provides drinking water to nearby communities; and Grupo AJE, with initiatives for the conservation of millions of hectares of Amazonian forest that contribute to the protection of water sources and ecosystems.
“Water has become a strategic factor for sustainability and business competitiveness. Companies that incorporate its management into their business decisions not only reduce risks, but also generate value and strengthen their resilience in the face of climate change,” said Mariella Sánchez Guerra, executive director of Aquafondo.
The 2026 call in Peru will allow companies to apply for projects in three categories: Water Innovation, Nature-based Solutions and Water Culture.
