Today, companies play an increasingly important role in addressing water and sustainability challenges. In this context, Aquafondo hosted the Second Specialized Workshop of the Water Responsible Companies Network (EHR Network), titled “Nature-Positive and Water-Positive Strategies: Creating Real Impact Through Business.”
The workshop was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and foster the exchange of experiences on innovative approaches that generate both environmental and business value.

During the workshop, participants explored how Nature-Positive and Water-Positive approaches enable companies to go beyond simply reducing their environmental impacts. These strategies aim to generate measurable benefits for nature and water resources while strengthening organizational resilience, fostering innovation, and contributing to the sustainable development of the communities and territories where businesses operate.

Beyond generating positive outcomes for nature and water resources, these strategies provide companies with an opportunity to better manage water-related risks. Their implementation helps strengthen operational continuity, safeguard corporate reputation, anticipate evolving regulatory requirements, and improve efficiency through cost reductions and the more sustainable use of resources.

The workshop also encouraged the exchange of tools, best practices, and practical experiences for integrating water security, Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), and positive-impact approaches into corporate strategies, helping companies advance toward increasingly sustainable business models.

International Experiences and Success Stories

The session featured Alejandro Sturniolo, Founder and CEO of Aqua Positive (Spain) and a member of Aquafondo’s Advisory Board, who shared his international experience in water management, sustainability, and governance.
During his presentation, he introduced practical tools and strategic approaches for integrating water resource management with the creation of environmental and business value.

As part of the workshop, Backus, a member of the Water Responsible Companies Network (EHR Network), presented a success story through Alexandra Arnaiz, Sustainability Coordinator for Peru.
During her presentation, she shared the company’s initiatives in sustainable water management, amuna restoration, circular economy, recycling, returnable packaging, and collaborative partnerships with multiple stakeholders to strengthen water security and climate action.

The event concluded with an open dialogue among participants, who exchanged ideas on the challenges and opportunities companies face as they transition toward business models that create shared value for both society and nature.

With this second specialized workshop, Aquafondo continues its commitment to strengthening the capacities of the organizations that make up the Water Responsible Companies Network (EHR Network) by fostering knowledge exchange, innovation, and the adoption of strategies that contribute to more sustainable water management.
