Wastewater reuse for irrigation in Cercado de Lima

Together with Nestlé, the German development cooperation implemented by GIZ and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, we developed the Water Stewardship shared value project to irrigate the district’s green areas with treated wastewater produced by Nestlé Peru’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), which complies with current quality standards for reuse.

This is in the context of the Lima Cercado district, which has a green area of 4.6 m² per person, equivalent to half of the 9 m² per inhabitant recommended by the World Health Organization to ensure a good quality of life in cities.

Year: 2018

Location: District of Cercado de Lima, Lima (Rimac Watershed)
