With the completion of the final session, we concluded the virtual course “Sustainable Water Resources Management in Chile and Peru,” an initiative developed by Aquafondo together with the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (UCSC), which brought together professionals, students, and specialists from Peru, Chile, and Argentina over four sessions, all committed to sustainable water management.

This experience allowed us to create a space for exchange among professionals from different territories, sectors, and disciplines, including public administration, the private sector, academia, social organizations, and territorial development projects. The diversity of backgrounds enriched each session with perspectives and experiences that reflect the complexity of the water challenges facing Latin America.

A learning space to strengthen regional water security

Throughout the course, we reflected on some of the main challenges associated with sustainable water resources management, including water security, climate change, risk management, Nature-Based Solutions, and water governance.

In particular, one of the most valuable aspects of the course was the opportunity to bring together experiences developed in different contexts. While Chile and Peru share challenges related to water availability, pressure on watersheds, and the impacts of climate change, both countries have developed approaches and tools that offer opportunities for mutual learning.

Exchange of experiences among professionals from Peru, Chile, and Argentina

The diversity of participants’ backgrounds and experiences turned each session into an opportunity to exchange knowledge, compare realities, and build collective learning that transcends borders.

Aquafondo and the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (UCSC) thank everyone who took part in this experience and reaffirm our commitment to creating learning and exchange opportunities that contribute to more sustainable and resilient water management across the region.

Because water challenges are shared—and so too can be the solutions.
